We are always willing to help, but we propose these four simple tips to check your furnace before giving us a call:
- Thermostat setting – The most significant job of a furnace is to create a comfy and cozy climate for your home. So when the weather cools off for good, make sure you’ve turned your thermostat over to ‘heat.’
- Furnace switch – Your furnace power is controlled by a switch that looks like a normal light switch, and should be turned on. If it’s not on, flip it on and sit a few minutes. Most furnaces have a built-in time delay and your furnace won’t kick on immediately after flipping on the switch.
- Filter – Furnace filters are an important part to your system. Not only does it filter out particles, dust and other contaminants, it impacts your furnace’s efficiency as well. We recommend changing out filters every three months to notice the top results.
- Circuit breaker – It’s possible that the breaker designated for your furnace has been tripped. Go to your circuit breaker panel and look to see if the switch has been tripped. If it has, cycle it by turning it off and then back on. You may have to wait a few minutes for the time-delay to go by before your furnace turns back on. If you do this and your furnace still isn’t working, give us a call and we can help figure out what is happening with your furnace so we can get it back up and running.
