When you want heating, cooling or plumbing services from Service Experts Heating, Air Conditioning & Plumbing, you will handle the trip charge and a diagnostic fee independently. A number of companies you’ve called in the past might have combined the trip charge and diagnostic fee, but we think we can offer better value by separating the two.
A trip charge includes the cost for a qualified plumber or HVAC technician to stop by your home. Sometimes called a service call fee, this charge is the initial rate for bringing our technicians, equipment and expertise to your door. If you want to avoid trip charges in the future, you can consider joining one of our membership plans.
The diagnostic fee is made up of the services necessary to find the root cause of a problem. In plumbing, this can include scoping. During HVAC repairs, it may involve taking a look at the inside of the cabinet. If you prefer to use Service Experts Heating, Air Conditioning & Plumbing for the repairs, the diagnostic fee will be rolled into the repair bill. However, you are charged for the diagnostic services alone if you don’t.
In general, a trip fee covers sending the plumber or HVAC technician to your residence, while the diagnostic fee encompasses all the work concerned with evaluating the problem and coming up with a plan for repairs. If you’re paying for repairs, you shouldn’t notice the diagnostic fee since it’ll be included with the cost of the repairs.
Some other plumbers and HVAC companies charge one fee for both the trip and the diagnostics. Rather than charging you for two services at the same time, we prefer two individual fees. This allows us to price our services in the fairest achievable manner.
