Stevenson Service Experts in Dayton always tells you about how our service techs are NATE-certified, and while it sounds comforting, what does it really mean?
NATE stands for North American Technician Excellence and, as mentioned on their website, is the nation’s largest certification organization for HVAC (heating, ventilation, air conditioning) and refrigeration technicians. The organization was developed by and has been supported by the entire HVAC and refrigeration industry but not all people in the industry are required to be certified by NATE. The certification is discretionary and technicians can work in the heating, cooling, ventilation, and refrigeration industry without being certified by NATE.
It’s important to Stevenson Service Experts that our technicians are NATE-certified to ensure we are sending the most qualified and skilled technicians into your home. To make sure experts meet these benchmarks, the NATE-certification exams validate real-world working knowledge of HVAC and refrigeration systems for technicians. The assessments are knowledge-based exams that assess the technician’s knowledge of these standards.
Since Stevenson Service Experts focuses on the HVAC side of NATE-certification (not refrigeration), there are only specific areas applicable to our technicians. NATE test candidates may obtain installation and/or service certification in one or more of the specialty areas listed below:
- Air Conditioning
- Air Distribution
