Here’s What to Do When Your Furnace Won’t Ignite
We are trudging through the last several weeks of winter but we still need our furnaces, especially during cool nights. There’s not a lot that is worse than going to bed at night just to find out your furnace won’t turn on. If this happens to you, here are some things you can check yourself prior to calling Service Experts Heating, Air Conditioning & Plumbing.
Check Air Filters
You should swap out standard air filters every 30 days. If you fail to do so, they can end up clogged, blocking air flow and resulting in a furnace malfunction.
Check Your Thermostat
See if turning the temperature up a few degrees will get the furnace to turn on. If the current room temperature is higher than the thermostat, the heating system won’t turn on. Also, confirm the system switch is on “heat” or “auto.”
Check the Power
It may seem obvious, but verify the power switch next to the heating equipment is “On.” Even gas furnaces use electricity so make sure the breaker has not tripped and that the power switch has not been accidently switched to the “Off” position.
If you inspect all these things and your furnace will still not kick on, give Service Experts Heating, Air Conditioning & Plumbing a call at 866-397-3787 and we’ll come out and get you heating again as soon as possible.
