4 Signs it's Time to Replace your Boiler

March 04, 2017

Is it time to replace your new boiler? Stevenson Service Experts is here with some signs to look for when deciding whether it’s time to invest in a new boiler.

Age

If your condensing boiler has standard maintenance, you can expect it to operate about 15 years or longer. Cast iron boilers can last a lot longer, even up to 50 years with proper maintenance. If your condensing boiler is close to 15 years or your cast iron boiler is almost 50 years, it may be time to consider an upgrade.

Bills

If your utility bills are going up or you’re having to service your boiler more repeatedly, it could be because it’s time to buy a new, more efficient boiler.

Discoloration

If you notice yellow flames on the gas burners and black soot on oil burners it could be a sign that the fuel is not burning adequately and could be creating carbon monoxide. If you see these issues or have any concerns surrounding carbon monoxide in your home, you should call Stevenson or your gas company immediately.

Comfort

If some of the rooms in your home are too cool or too warm and you can’t seem to control them correctly or get them comfortable, it could be that your boiler is not effective anymore and you could need to look into upgrade options.
